Peru has an incredible variety of animals and plants. Its natural parks are famous for their beauty and protection efforts. In 2025, Sernanp recommends three perfect places for nature lovers: Tambopata National Reserve, San Fernando National Reserve, and the Cavinzas Islands and Palomino Islets.
Tambopata National Reserve: A Jungle Full of Life
Located in Madre de Dios, this reserve is home to macaws, river otters, and many other animals. Its most popular attraction is Lake Sandoval, where visitors can walk along trails and see the amazing jungle. There is also a wooden walkway of 2.8 km, perfect for families and people with disabilities.
San Fernando National Reserve: A Desert Oasis
In Ica, this reserve has desert, cliffs, and wetlands. Many animals live here, including sea lions, penguins, guanacos, and condors. The San Fernando Bay, surrounded by beaches and rocky formations, is the main attraction.
Cavinzas Islands and Palomino Islets: A Marine Adventure
Located in Callao, these islands are part of the National Reserve of Islands, Islets, and Capes. A large group of sea lions lives here. Visitors can swim with them in safe areas. The islands are also home to Humboldt penguins and many birds, like boobies and guanay.
