On November 8, the Lambayeque Museum will celebrate its 22nd anniversary with special activities. The main event will be a concert by the Choir and Symphony Orchestra of Chiclayo.
Carlos Wester La Torre, the director of the local Cultural Office, announced this celebration. He shared that, since the museum opened in 2002, it has grown beyond just displaying artifacts.
Thanks to the vision of archaeologist Walter Alva, anthropologist Susana Meneses, archaeologist Luis Chero, and architect Celso Prado, the museum has become a place where people from local and global communities come to learn and share knowledge.
The activities planned for the anniversary aim to show the museum’s commitment to sustainable cultural management. The museum wants to meet the needs of society and respect the cultural and natural environment.
"We are not only celebrating more than 20 years of work in preserving and sharing our cultural heritage,” Wester said, “but we are also renewing the museum’s promise to address global challenges. We will keep aligning our work with sustainable principles—environmental, cultural, social, and economic."
The Choir and Symphony Orchestra of Chiclayo will perform on November 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the sunken plaza of the Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum. To mark the special day, the museum will have extended hours from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
