Pómac Forest Hopes to Break Record with 15,000 Visitors

In Ferreñafe, Lambayeque, a protected natural area has become a key tourist destination. Recently, it earned the prestigious Tier 4 designation. This recognition has boosted its popularity and brought more visitors.

Sirley Bernabé, the area’s chief, spoke to Agencia Andina about its importance. She explained that the new ranking helps grow the local economy by promoting tourism in the sanctuary and nearby areas. After the challenges of the pandemic, visitor numbers are finally rising again.

“Our goal is to increase visitors by 30%,” Bernabé said. “We have the right infrastructure to ensure their satisfaction. The entire area is marked with signs and protected with constant security.”

The sanctuary welcomes visitors daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from 5 to 11 soles. Seniors over 65 enter for free. Children between 4 and 17 pay just 3 soles. Foreign visitors have a flat rate of 30 soles.
