On August 15th, in the Uruguayan city of Colonia, a significant event took place that highlighted the powerful connection between culinary tourism and regional development.
The conference titled "Gastronomic Tourism and Territorial Development" was led by the renowned chef Andrés Ugaz. This event aimed to explore how food culture can drive innovation and strengthen cultural identity, fostering a sense of pride and unity within communities.
The event was primarily the result of collaboration between the Departmental Tourism Association and the PYME Initiative from Colombia, bringing together 13 speakers and over a hundred participants.
As part of the opening ceremony, Elizabeth González, the Peruvian Ambassador to Uruguay, emphasized the role of gastronomy in promoting innovation and reinforcing cultural identity. This activity is part of our country's strategies for promoting gastronomy, aligning with the authorities' intentions to strengthen ties with the municipal government of Colombia.
