The event titled "Sustainable Management for Marine Wildlife Watching" is promoted by Mincetur in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism Products and Destinations (DPDT) of the Vice Ministry of Tourism, the District Municipality of Los Órganos (Piura), and supported by German Cooperation GIZ.

On Thursday, October 31st, at the Los Órganos Tourist Boardwalk in Talara, representatives from public institutions, tourism associations, travel agencies, and NGOs will gather. They will have discussions to exchange experiences and knowledge with a focus on sustainability and inclusion.

Among the speakers, there will be experts from Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, and Costa Rica. They will talk about sustainable tourism, management of marine and coastal areas, whale conservation, and environmental education.

This forum will not only share strategies and good practices from other countries, but it will also show the socio-economic impact of marine wildlife watching in Peru. According to the report "Profile and Characteristics of Marine Wildlife Watching Tourists (2024)," 51.9% of tourists visit Tumbes and Callao to watch marine species.

Finally, 65.4% of international travelers choose this activity as their main reason for visiting, also looking for a place to relax (37.6%) and explore the destination (37.6%).
