Mincetur reports on the potential for adventure and nature tourism in Peru

The head of Mincetur, Elizabeth Galdo, discussed the document "Report on Nature and Adventure Tourism in APEC Economies," which highlights the potential of our country in these areas, similar to countries like Australia, Malaysia, the United States, and Hong Kong.

Mincetur and the participating APEC economies prepared the publication, pointing to Peru as a destination with extensive experience in trekking and other outdoor activities, such as rafting, which has been practiced in Lunahuaná since the 1990s.

The report also mentions surfing and mountain biking as some of the most popular activities in the country. Additionally, it recognizes Peru's diversity of ecosystems, flora, and fauna: "Peru is one of the countries with remarkable bird diversity (1,879 identified species). Moreover, it is home to the largest number of butterflies in the world, with over 4,000 species. This has served as a foundation for nature-related activities."

According to figures from Promperú, the profile of the travelers mentioned in the report (adventure sports enthusiasts) is as follows: millennials (52%), male (55%), and single (53%). Most of them come from European countries, especially France, Spain, and Germany.
