Lake Titicaca: Mincetur Announces Start of Construction of Tourist Dock

A new large-scale project is planned for the tourism sector in the south of the country. It will benefit both national and international tourists and could attract more investors to the Puno region, thereby increasing local demand. The project's location is 74 kilometers from Puno. The public entity mentioned that in the coming weeks, the start of tourist works in Llachón, a community located on the shores of Lake Titicaca, is expected. The Santa María Consortium will be responsible for the work, with an investment of over S/ 18 million, and the contract signing is scheduled for August 23.

In addition to the tourist dock, the project includes a viewpoint, an artisan zone, parking areas, tourist signage, restrooms, and other facilities. The project is expected to benefit more than 220,000 national and international tourists.

"The execution of this project marks the starting point for the entry of more investments that will enhance the tourist experience in this important area of the Puno region. It will also strengthen the local tourism offerings," said Elizabeth Galdo, head of Mincetur.

The Llachón community is located 74 kilometers northwest of Puno and its main activities include fishing, livestock, crafts, and agriculture. It is also an ideal destination for tourists to interact with locals, stay in rural homes, or practice kayaking on Lake Titicaca.
