The museum in Lambayeque is celebrating its 16th anniversary with a day full of activities. Located in the Archaeological Complex, the event is organized by the Ministry of Culture. It aims to bring Peruvians and tourists closer to the history of the Mochica civilization.
Carlos Wester La Torre, director of Executing Unit 005 - Lambayeque, highlighted the importance of this celebration. He explained that the museum works with the community and supports vulnerable groups. "Our management is more open. We listen to the community and create activities for them," he said.
The museum is an example of inclusion. It has Braille texts and videos with Peruvian Sign Language in its exhibition halls. Acting director Ceyra Pasapera Rojas said that the challenge now is to improve accessibility. "Thanks to our volunteers, we offer Peruvian Sign Language workshops. We want visitors to learn about inclusion while exploring the museum," she explained.
Since 2007, the museum has displayed valuable archaeological discoveries. Among them are the tombs of important Mochica leaders such as the Warrior Priest, the Noble Warrior, and the Lord Warrior. The exhibitions show their culture, goldwork, and burial rituals.
The museum is 27 km from Chiclayo and is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets cost from S/ 1.50 for children and S/ 8.00 for adults. With this celebration, the museum reaffirms its mission to preserve history and make it accessible to everyone.
