Lima celebrates its anniversary on January 18. As Peru’s main gateway for international tourists, the city plays a key role in the country’s tourism industry.
The Chamber of Commerce highlighted the importance of the Historic Center of Lima for tourism in Peru. In a statement, they praised Prolima’s efforts to restore and improve the area, creating better spaces for locals and visitors.
The Chamber emphasized the need to continue these recovery efforts. They pointed to Law No. 31980 as a key tool to boost business and tourism. This law offers tax incentives to encourage investment. For example, it allows investors to recover up to 30% of their spending if they restore buildings in the Historic Center for commercial purposes. This plan aims to attract more money to the area.
Around 3% of the VAT collected (about S/ 120 million) will fund restoration projects. These funds will help keep the improvements going.
The Chamber also highlighted the creation of a one-stop service window for paperwork in the Historic Center. This new system will speed up and simplify processes for public and private investments.
“We support these efforts to improve Lima,” the Chamber concluded. “This work is essential to make the city more beautiful and boost tourism, a key part of Peru’s economy.”
