Access to Machu Picchu continues to innovate in 2024 as the Peruvian government announced the launch of an innovative national electronic ticketing system for the iconic Inca citadel. It promises transparency, security, and accessibility for all its users. But will it live up to the expectations? It is said to optimize every aspect of the experience, from entry control to online sales. Additionally, it will include oversight by government entities to ensure the security and efficiency of information.
The Peruvian government has officially launched a new national system for electronic ticket sales to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, located in the Urubamba province of Cusco. This new system operates on the National Digital Government Platform, providing visitors with transparent, objective, and secure information through strict controls, guarantees, and accessibility.
The digital platform includes four modules: entry control, agencies and reservations, in-person sales, and online sales. These modules enhance controls and validations, optimizing sales and access to cultural sites. Additionally, the National Center for Digital Security of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) will oversee the system to ensure greater information security.
Culture Minister Leslie Urteaga emphasized that the new system, fully managed by the Peruvian state, incorporates anti-fraud measures and interoperates with the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (RENIEC) and the National Superintendence of Migrations, ensuring efficient and secure management of cultural heritage.
