The MTC plans to build four air terminals with the goal of improving air connectivity in the jungle region of Peru. This would reduce travel times to that area. Raúl Pérez Reyes, head of the MTC, stated that the entity is working with the General Directorate of Civil Aviation to promote the construction of four air terminals in Marañón and Soplín (Loreto), Oxapampa (Pasco), and Unión Asháninka (Cusco).

The projects will require an investment of S/ 620 million and aim to improve air connectivity in the jungle region of Peru, reducing travel times. The first three projects are in the diagnostic and land acquisition stages. These terminals will have suitable facilities and will be able to accommodate light aircraft with an estimated capacity of 50 to 80 passengers.

For the airport in the VRAEM (Unión Asháninka), the MTC has awarded the contract to carry out a pre-investment study for the project.

These air terminals will facilitate access to both domestic and foreign tourism, benefiting economic development and creating opportunities for the country.

The MTC’s efforts to enhance air connectivity continue, as commercial flights are currently operating in Anta (Áncash), Jaén (Cajamarca), and Andahuaylas (Apurímac), where the airports have been rehabilitated. Additionally, plans are underway to improve and expand air terminals in Jauja (Junín), Juanjuí (San Martín), and Yurimaguas (Loreto) with an investment of over S/ 250 million.
