Peru Welcomes First Visitors of 2025 with Music and Dance

Desilú León, head of Mincetur, welcomed the first foreign tourists of the year on January 1, 2025. The event took place at Jorge Chávez Airport with music and traditional Peruvian dances like huaylas and marinera norteña.

The visitors, Lou and Juliette from France, will explore Lima, Caral, Áncash, and Cusco during a 22-day trip. Minister León and Sol Velásquez García, Tourism Director of Promperú, gave the travelers special gifts to mark the occasion.

“Our 360° tourism recovery plan is showing results,” said León. “We thank these visitors for choosing Peru. Their trust highlights how amazing our country is.”

Between January and November 2024, Peru welcomed 2,976,151 international tourists. This was a 31.6% increase from 2023. In 2025, Peru aims to attract 4.4 million visitors, surpassing pre-pandemic numbers. This would generate $5.3 billion in economic activity and create over 1.3 million jobs nationwide.
