In the search for towns with tourism potential, Oxapampa emerged. Mincetur's goal is to develop sustainable tourism and enhance the local tourism offerings. Improvement must go hand in hand with infrastructure and accessibility.
The decision was ratified through Vice Ministerial Resolution Nº 0035-2024-MINCETUR/VMT, designating Oxapampa as a "Charming Town."
This initiative, led by Mincetur, aims to recognize towns with tourism potential and cultural heritage value, which possess authentic cultural attributes. This approach will promote sustainable tourism development to enhance the local tourism offerings and improve the visitor experience.
Being considered a "Charming Town" brings certain benefits, such as integration into Promperú’s promotional strategies, the development of an interpretive guide for a tourism experience, and the management of experience exchanges in international initiatives, among others.
Additionally, one of the objectives is to motivate the creation of efficient local management models, improve the territory’s conditions (infrastructure, accessibility, etc.), and position the selected towns as tourist destinations.
