The exhibit features 46 photographs. Kleihege carefully selected these from over 4,000 images he took across two decades. His work documents discoveries at Caral, led by Dr. Ruth Shady Solís since 1994.

Among the photos, visitors will find highlights like an aerial view of the Grand Public Building, a serpent-face frieze, and Caral’s iconic spiral design etched in stone. These images reveal key details about the ancient cities of America’s first civilization.

The exhibit is a collaboration between the museum, the Embassy of Peru in Spain, and the Inca Garcilaso Cultural Center. Together, they aim to inspire Spaniards to visit Peru and learn about Caral’s ancient origins.

This is not Kleihege’s first exhibit on Peru. In 2019, he presented “Caral: The Earliest Civilization in the Americas” at the Fernando de Szyszlo Art Gallery, part of the Peruvian Embassy in Washington, D.C. Archaeologist Ruth Shady presided over that opening, showing her dedication to preserving Peru’s cultural heritage.
