Lima celebrates its 490th anniversary on January 18. To mark the occasion, Mincetur invites Peruvians and tourists to explore the city's rich history and culture. They shared a list of five must-visit places in the capital.
Plaza de Armas:
This square is the heart of historic Lima. Surrounded by colonial buildings like the Government Palace and the Cathedral, it is a gathering spot for locals and visitors. In 1972, it was declared a Cultural Heritage of Peru and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991. Don’t miss the famous changing of the guard.
Cathedral of Lima:
Located in Plaza de Armas, this architectural gem was built in 1535. It houses stunning chapels, a museum, and the tomb of Francisco Pizarro, Peru's conqueror. Despite renovations over the years, it retains its original charm.

At the Park of the Reserve, this attraction features over 13 interactive fountains. With lights, music, and technology, it offers an unforgettable show. Families love it.
House of Literature:
This cultural space celebrates Peruvian and Latin American literature. Visitors can enjoy exhibitions, workshops, and activities. It's a treasure for book lovers.
Exhibition Park:
Known for its green spaces and cultural events, this park hosts art shows and exhibitions. Its highlight is the Exhibition Palace, home to art galleries and recreational activities.
