Discover the Factors That Can Boost Corporate Tourism

Peru is becoming a key player in business tourism in the region. This type of travel now makes up 30% of trips in the country. Strategic infrastructure projects, like the Jorge Chávez Airport expansion and the Chancay megaport, boost international trade and create new opportunities for business events and meetings.

However, challenges remain. Informality affects 75% of the tourism sector, according to APAVIT, impacting service quality and competitiveness. Gabriela Ostolaza, MICE manager at NMViajes, spoke to Agencia Andina about this issue. "Informality limits small businesses and risks the travel experience for workers. Addressing this urgently is key to positioning Peru as a reliable destination for business and international events," she said.

Ostolaza also highlighted security as a critical factor. Safety should cover not only passenger transportation but also data and transactions during their stay. Business reputation and operations are at stake.

She believes corporate tourism security must include physical, technological, and contractual aspects. This approach can build trust between travelers and the companies supporting them.

Lastly, she pointed out the lack of progress in infrastructure such as highways and convention centers. These gaps limit Peru’s ability to host large international events.
