The Lima Convention Center is hosting an interactive exhibition titled “Caral-Peru, the Oldest Civilization in the Americas.” This event, featuring digital technology and mixed reality tools, is aimed at leaders from the 21 member economies of the APEC 2024 Forum and 2,000 accredited journalists. Attendees can enjoy a virtual tour of the Caral archaeological sites.
The exhibition runs from November 10 to 16 and celebrates 30 years of research led by Dr. Ruth Shady Solís in the Sacred City of Caral-Supe. This civilization, considered the oldest in the Americas, is presented through visually rich and interactive displays.
Key features include images of Caral’s urban centers, informational videos, interactive screens, and virtual reality headsets. These headsets allow visitors to explore places like the Fire Altar and the ceremonial hall of the Pututus Public Building in the city of Peñico.
Each section of the exhibition focuses on essential themes related to the Caral civilization, such as living in harmony with nature, food security, gender equality, social memory, human development, cultural interaction, and advancements in science and technology.
The Caral Archaeological Zone, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, aims to promote the appreciation of this ancient culture and encourage attendees to share its significance worldwide. This initiative not only highlights Peru’s cultural legacy but also positions Caral as a symbol of knowledge and holistic development in human history.
